Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you or someone you know feel stuck? Are your emotions interfering with your day-to-day tasks or relationships? Could your family benefit from learning strategies to parent or communicate more clearly? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are a great candidate to receive therapy.

Therapy is a tool used to improve, strengthen or understand various matters. A common misconception is that a person must experience “significant problems” to warrant therapy. At Intuitive Counseling, therapeutic services are not strictly limited to treating problems. Instead, clients utilize therapy to achieve self-growth and confidence, improve relationships, help formulate a person’s identity and gain more control over their emotions, to name a few!

If you are still unsure if you need therapy, know that you are not alone, and please reach out. I will be happy to answer any questions and help you identify potential areas to strengthen and improve.

  • Intuitive Counseling is an Out-of-Network provider. We do not take insurance and are fully self-pay. Upon request, you can receive a superbill and send it to your insurance for potential reimbursement; however, we cannot guarantee they will reimburse you.

  • The results of teletherapy are as effective as in-person therapy and pose advantages. Along with the convenience and accessibility teletherapy allows, it enables clients to receive a unique form of in-home therapy only available by Intensive Outpatient Programs in the past. With teletherapy, your therapist can witness interactions between clients and their environment, surpassing the limits of in-person, which go off of self-report. Our clients benefit from teletherapy by gaining real-time interventions and opportunities to try new skills in their homes during the session. We have found teletherapy to be successful in treating clients ages six and up and accommodating individuals, couples, and families with busy schedules.

  • While therapy will look different for each person, you can generally expect to process and work through current and past life events relevant to your presenting concern, along with reporting progress or new insights gained from previous therapy sessions. Your specific needs will determine treatment frequency and duration. For example, short-term therapy would focus on a particular issue. At the same time, longer-term treatment would be appropriate for dealing with more difficult patterns or the desire for further personal development. Regardless of the duration, scheduling regular sessions with your therapist are most common. Clients can expect direct feedback, accountability, insight, and reframing from their therapist. Clients achieve the best results from therapy when they actively participate in the process and do the suggested work outside of sessions.
